I recently took a FII course with Nathan that couldn't have been any better. From the start, Nathan went out of his to help his students get started. Even after, he still keeps in contact with us as a friend and teacher in one. The course was detailed with material that help us quickly acquire skills, allowing us to get the most out of our dives while staying safe. Overall, Nathan's passion, energy, and teaching ability created an environment that strongly promoted fun and safety while developing proper dive techniques.

Last Fall I took the Level I Freediver course from FII Instructor Nathan Lucas in Los Angeles. Even though I had been freediving for a lot of years, I was astonished at how much I didn't know. The content of the course, and the techniques I learned, made me a much, much better, and a far safer, diver. It was well worth my time and effort, and certainly worth every penny I spent. Nathan was an incredible instructor in the classroom, the pool and the ocean. He was so knowledgable, upbeat, patient, and had a great sense of humor, while making difficult things look really easy. I highly recommend this course, and I highly recommend taking it from Nathan. You will not be sorry.

Nathan's knowledge of the sport of freediving as well as his joy for helping others transition into the amazing world of freediving is apparent from the very beginning. Within two days of registering for Nathan's class he contacted me to address any questions I had concerning gear prior to the class. Nathan, two other students, and myself all met at a pool prior to the class date to try out some of the different fins Nathan owned so we could get an idea of what we were looking for prior to actually buying any gear for the class. During the class Nathan was able to answer any question anyone had while still expanding on the topic or rephrasing the answer to ensure everyone understood what was said. Once we had starting the ocean diving portion of the class Nathan continued to exceed every expectation I had for an instructor. I had equalization issues during the ocean portion and was unable to complete the class on that original date. The following weekend I was invited by Nathan to finish the course one on one. Using the tips for fixing my equalization problem given to me by Nathan after the open water portion, I was able to hit depth and pass the class that following weekend. Nathan is an amazing instructor and if I had the ability to give him more stars I would. You can tell he is doing everything he is doing out of a love of freediving and love of helping others.

Nathan was very informative about freediving and its history he stressed safety and the ability of the body to extend your breath hold reaching depths that are comfortable and attainable if you practice and adapt your body to the lifestyle of freediving. In the ocean he was observant to us students always checking lip color and equalization issues he coached us giving me personally , confidence to reach my max depths of 43-53 feet which was fun and relaxing. Thanks Nathan!
