I took the Level 1 course in September in Homer, Alaska with instructor John Dornellas. I had the jitters and was a little nervous about the class. That all changed once class staryed rolling amd John started the classroom session. It felt laid back but still very serious on all the safety protocol and rescue techniques. The pool session went great. John was great in the way that if wr didnt quite understand something he would take the time and let us try each activity until we all undetstood safety aspects well. The next day was even better on the open water session. We had a great day on the water and same thing if we had any problems John was thete to help us out. I would recomennd 10/10 taking a course with this institute. Looking forward to my next course.

Neal is a 10/10 instructor. Very knowledgeable, very patient. Always felt safe and like he could handle whatever was happening. Didn't know anything about him ahead of the class and didn't know really much about freediving, but he turned out to be everything one could hope for in a teacher, and now I am confident in my diving. Thank you!

I think the course was amazing. It has motivated me to take the Level 2 course and eventually obtain my instructor certification to try and intorduce this sport to others. The only feedback i would give is with regard to some type of introduction to freediving course. We had one guy in my class who wanted to learn to freedive but was nowhere near ready for the level 1 class. He needed a solid training in equipment use and a slower introduction to the water. He quite durring the confined session which was the right decision, but I hope it doesnt forever keep him clear of this sport. I know PFI offers an intro to freediving class that may be a good feeder course for the level 1 training. If I was to become an instructor, teaching a class like this would be something I would be interested in. I am sure you have your reasons for not doing it, but it may be something to consider to provide a lower barrier to entry from both a skill and cost persepective. Thank You!!
